A booking platform for independent guesthouses, rebuilt from a legacy PHP monolith into a typed, edge-rendered app.
The problem
Hosts were losing bookings to slow pages and a checkout that broke on mobile. The old codebase made every change risky.
Approach
- Mapped every existing flow before touching code, then migrated one route at a time.
- Moved rendering to the edge and cached availability aggressively.
- Replaced the checkout with a three-step form that survives a dropped connection.
Outcome
Median page load fell from 3.1s to 0.6s and mobile checkout completion roughly doubled. (Placeholder figures — replace with your own.)
